“We Don’t Need a Graphic Designer!”
You have probably heard someone else say this: We don’t need a graphic designer. And you’re probably right. You probably don’t need a graphic designer. If They Don’t See You, They Won’t Remember You
Picture this. Your sales team calls on an important client. For whatever reason, the person they are trying to reach isn’t in or can’t see your salesperson. All they have to leave is a business card. The receptionist places your salesperson’s business card in the stack of other salespeople’s’ business cards trying to see the same busy executive. Some of the sales people call a second time. Most don’t. If your salesperson had a brochure to leave behind, that could improve the chances of that salesperson getting a sales appointment.
Here is another possible scenario. You have a trade show coming up. This is more of a “soft sell” situation. You don’t want to overwhelm your booth visitors with a lot of information. You don’t want to go straight for the close on everyone. Or you just want to have something that will introduce your product or service and answer a few questions upfront. And you don’t have a brochure that will do that for you and your potential customers. Potential customers don’t remember you. You don’t get the sale.
Another scenario goes like this. You have decided to start a direct mail campaign. You gather a list of customers and prospects. You get the envelopes together, write a sales letter, stuff the envelopes, and mail them. Then you wait about five days and eagerly rush into the office waiting for the phone to ring. Nothing happens. Why? No one opened your letter, and all your money was wasted. If you invested a few hundred dollars more into a colorful, professionally designed postcard, maybe you would have gotten a return on your investment in the form of new sales. After all, nothing screams “junk mail” like a plain white envelope. One of my many talents is to produce direct mail brochures that get results.
